Snowed In

Hello All:

Winter has officially started. We got blasted with snow at the beginning of this month, which for some crazy reason caught everyone by
surprise. We even had to cancel one of our Sunday meetings. As soon as it started snowing I started to think of beautiful California weather. I took this picture when I woke up to snow on the ground. Ha ha. There's a lot more there now, but we're still having fun.

Last week we had our pioneer meeting and a really nice dinner afterward at our kingdom hall. With 23 pioneers and the 2 speakers, it was hard to fit us all in the second school. I joked with our coordinator that next year we will have to rent out a hall.

We love and miss you all!

Pioneer School

We just got back from pioneer school, and we had tons of fun. I had forgotten how much studying was involved! But it was a nice break from our routine.

We stayed with a wonderfully hospitable couple named Chris & Steve Bergfeld. They live in Kingsford, MI (about 80 miles from where we live) right on the shore of a lake. We had a basement level apartment to ourselves, and the fridge in our room was fully stocked with whatever we wanted (not too good for my waistline : /). Three others from our cong went to pioneer school along with us. It was their first time, so of course they had a blast, and we had a lot of fun going with them.

Happy new service year to everyone! Enjoy the pics. Feel free to post a note. I've made it so only we can see comments. Or send us an e-mail.

Wow, time flys.

Hello All:

We have been keeping busy. We had a wonderful convention at the end of May. It was awesome. We had it in Greenbay WI. at the Resch Center. It is located accross the street from Lambeau Field where the Greenbay Packers play. Greenbay is 3 hrs away from us. We left on Thursday afternoon. It was warm and sunny. I felt a little overheated, I guess because I'm used to cool weather. We arrived at our Hotel we were so happy with our room. We went to dinner that night at a Brewery called the Hinterland the food was great the cheeseburger sliders were awesome! Friday A.M. we got the the convention at about 8:30 and we found some seats near the floor. We ended up moving because we wanted to closer to the section we were cleaning. We went to the Gilead Meeting and it was nice to see so many young couples intrested. Two couples sat down with the brothers to get an application. I remember how stressful that was! Friday night we had Mexican Food at a place call El Sarape. It was good. Sorry I didn't take pictures. I'm terrible at capturing moments like that. It occurs to me later : /

Saturday A.M. we sat with our congregation. Well most of the friends. They sit where the cleaning assignment is. Which is behind the stage :( I was still able to take notes. There is a young brother in our hall who is thinking of going Bethel.Mike and Forrest Whorley went with him to the Bethel Meeting and he got a Temping Application. He was so excited and his parents were happy.

Sunday came soo fast. We had such a great time and met some nice friends. It was such a nice experience. Check out the pics I posted.

Picnic & Volleyball

Here are the Photos I mentioned in my last post.

Almost a year...

Hello All,

May is here! We have our convention at the end of the month in Green Bay, WI and then CO the next week. We're very excited. This will be the our first convention with our congregation and circuit (Michigan #7). We missed last year's because we were driving across the country :)

Today is our weekly day off, and I have big plans to run errands and do chores and prepare some food for the week. We'll see if I get that done before the meeting tonight. The weather is nice (sunny and 70) but we might get snow on Friday! That's spring in the UP.

Service is going great. Yesterday we had an awesome day. I went back to visit a few who accepted the April special issue and was able to start 2 door step studies! I was so excited I caught them because they are college students and school is out for summer. Mike has some great studies going. They keep him busy.

Since the weather has been nice we have been doing fun stuff after service on the weekends. Last Sunday we went on a hike and then had a little picnic with some of the friends at a park on Lake Superior. It was so windy! Things that were not weighed down blew away and got snatched by the sea gulls. Ha ha. Mike and some of the brothers played Bocce Ball. We had a great time.  I'll post some of the pics...

That's it for now. We miss you and love you all.

Helllo!

Hello Friends & Family,

It is Sunday eve. we are winding down from the week. Getting ready to start a new week. We do not have meetings this week because of the Special Assembly Day on Sunday. We are looking forward to it. It will be in Escanaba Michigan. The weather was so beautiful today it was in the 60's sun shining on Lake Superior. It snowed this week and got down to 30 but felt like 19 with windchill. I was shocked when we woke up and we had 6 inches of snow!!!! It was nice since we knew it would melt!

On Sundays the friends like to get a bite to eat before we go out in service. Our car group went to Jimmy Johns a sub sandwich chain. It was a toss up between Mickey D's and Taco Bell... Yuck ! Glad we decided on Jimmy Johns :). We did some calls and territory.

After Service we did our cleaning job and came home and did some straightening up of our house. We are in our 11th month here in Marquette.

Hope all is well.

Love,
M+T

It was so nice to wear one layer and shoes instead of boots! We did territory mostly all day today. It was nice to get back to talking to people more.

We had 147 at our memorial. It turned out really nice! I'll send pics. We did a a lot of clean up for the memorial. Outside the kingdom hall needed attention and inside too. We had a lot of support to help clean.

It was cold today

Hello All:

It's 8pm and I just got home from service. Mike is still at the prison. He should be home soon then we will be going to our cleaning account. We had a 27 people at the morning meeting for field service. Mike and I walked in this morning in the back school where we have our meetings for field service and there was only like 3 seats available out of 20 chairs or something. This week all of our meetings for field service have been tailored around the Memorial. Mike brought out some good points from the Reasoning Book on Page 263 under the Subject Mass and subheading What did Jesus mean when he said this means my body...

We then made our car groups and went our separate ways. My car group wanted to do driving territory because it was so cold. It started snowing today and it got down to 20 and a crazy cold windchill that felt like 1 degree!!!! We did a few houses and got back in the van to warm up. It was fun. We have a sister visiting from San Juan Capistrano. She is visiting her son here in Marquette and came to the meeting last night. She was out in service all day with us. She speaks little english but we were able to communicate via Ashley Whorely she is a a new sister in our hall from Virginia.  She used to be in the spanish.

All and all it was a super fun day.

Love you all,

Mike & Ty

The Ice is Melting... maybe an early spring!

AAAAHHHHH!!!! sorry guys it has been too long since my last post but we have been busy. We had a nice visit to California we loved seeing everyone and sad we couldn't spend time with some of you. When we came back to Marquette we were expecting a blizzard but the snow was melting. So we might have a freakishly early spring. YAAAAAYYYY!
We came back March 8th and went out in service March 9. Everyone was glad we came back :)))

Today we stayed home to catch up on some things. We had to take our car in to get the wheel bearings replaced. We are borrowing Forrest and Ashley Whorley's Jeep Cheerokee. It's a nice Jeep. Mike likes driving it. It has tinted windows and is kinda lifted with big tires. Mike puts his shades on and suddenly he is too cool for school. I'll have to get a picture of him driving it.

Service wise things have been great! There has been a lot of activity in our cong. On Tuesday and Thursday we have 4 meetings for field service. 9:30, 12:30, 4:00 and 6:00pm. We have had people at all four meetings! When 6 rolls around we just about spent and more show up for the last haul. Last night I didn't get home till 7:45 from a study. We have so much fun out in service. So many have bible studies. One brother who might be losing his job is considering pioneering. We have had a lot of nice response to the memorial invitations. A few friends have said that some householders have said they will come. One college student we encountered stumbled to the door half asleep. We gave her the invitation and she took it and smiled thanked us and as we turned to walk away she stopped us and said "what time is it again and where"? it was great.

Next big event special talk and our special assembly day. I'll try to be better about keeping you posted.

love, Mike and Ty
